Crystal Fighters : Live

“We have many homes around the world, and we’re glad to call New York one of them,” said Crystal Fighters frontman Sebastian Pringle, looking out at the packed audience at the Music Hall of Williamsburg (QRO venue review).  Delivering a blistering set that kicked off with Star of Love opener “Solar System”, the British/Spanish band certainly looked like they felt at home.  Their blend of traditional Basque music and electronica got the sold-out crowd into full-on party mode, with songs like “Xtatic Truth”, “Plage”, and a frenetic rendition of early single “I Love London”.

Is Tropical : Live

It was a particularly good night for dancing in Brooklyn, as Crystal Fighters were accompanied by fellow Brits Is Tropical.  On record, the London trio juxtapose sophisticated songwriting with raw delivery, which makes for a natural translation to their live sound.  Is Tropical’s knack for catchy melodies is unstoppable, from the buoyant “Land of the Nod” to the three-million-YouTube-hits-strong “The Greeks”, which gets stretched into an extended cut live, exemplifying the Kitsuné band’s dance pedigree (Kitsuné mixtape).
