Fresh out of the recording studio, Sacramento’s own Deftones made their triumphant return to Houston to play for their Texas loyals on Wednesday, August 19th. With over 27 years of ripping arenas around the world and a back catalogue as intricate as their last release (Koi No YokanQRO review), Deftones are always going to have staying power in the world of modern music. With the fans on their side, Deftones stepped into the sunset of the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion to put on a high intensity performance that was a nearly two hour spectacle of well received, experimental rock greatness.

DeftonesWhen you look into the crowd at a Deftones show, you quickly understand just how the San Diego five-piece has survived nearly three decades of touring. For Deftones, playing music is still as fun as it was back in 1991. Through the highs of commercial success and the lows of hard times, the band still manages to come out on top when it comes to their live performances. Every show is a moment in time, filled with a plethora of sounds that even the pickiest of fans would accept as incredible. This day was no different, as the fans were quick to understand just exactly why Deftones were still on top.

With a new album slated for September 25th, great things are in the future for Deftones. Catch them on tour as they continue their co-headlining tour with Incubus (QRO photos from this show).
