Elton John bids Farewell to the Yellow Brick Road in San Francisco
Elton John and his ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ tour stopped by the newly opened Chase Center Arena in San Francisco on Friday night, September 13th. The Knighted piano man performed without an opener to a sold out crowd in the future home of the Golden State Warriors. For two-and-a-half hours the 72-year-old played hit after hit from his 30 studio album catalogue.
The stage, a fitting nod to his legendary history, was a giant frame filled with notable images including Lion King, Elton John Aids Foundation, Gucci, Billy Elliot, Soul Train, and Ryan White to name a few.
Yellow gold bricks circled the stage and in the center stood his shiny black Yamaha piano.
The crowd both young and old, wore Elton John vintage tour t-shirts, glitter jackets, blinking light sunglasses, and bedazzled jumpsuits.
The ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ tour continues into Canada before returning back to the USA in Indiana in October.
