Fighting Wolves : Live

An Irishman, Scotsman, Frenchman and an Englishman walked into a bar…

Far from a bad joke, these guys have come a long way in the past couple of years and in the fantastic setting of The Slade Rooms in Wolverhampton on Wednesday, July 24th, this was a great opportunity to see the band during a rather intimate performance during what should be great turning point in their career.

Before their grand entrance, the crowd were treated to the likes of some brilliant supporting acts, all relatively new to the music scene (The Black Hounds, Diamond Lil’ and Stout Gentlemen), who thoroughly warmed the crowd up with a variation of different songs and styles to entertain.

Enter Fighting Wolves.

Hailing from all around the U.K. (and now France also), Fighting Wolves are an exemplary rock band with masses of talent.  Having recently finished recording their debut album with the help of pledgemusic (a direct-to-fan fundraising campaign) and a whole lot of fans/pledgers who helped them overreach their goal by 176%, their set featured some exciting teaser tracks that would not only capture the attention of the crowd, but showcase the talents of each band member simultaneously – including the newly appointed guitarist, Pierre Baudassé!

The set got off to a great start, with the guys launching into their repertoire in full swing; thrashing at their guitars, bass and drums especially with a huge amount of energy, passion and sweat – go hard or go home, right?  You can tell they thoroughly enjoy being up on stage performing their work and so they should.  Despite being a relatively short set, there were enough songs and just enough chat to keep the audience satiated and entertained.

The last couple of songs, “Long Time”, a teaser track from their debut album, and “One Minute More”, off their Prologue EP, really stood out well to showcase the tight musicianship despite recent change-arounds.  Featuring fast-paced drumming, a fantastic vocal range from Paul, incredibly catchy choruses that will have you singing along in no time and even better riffs, it was a great way to end a set with a song that instantly leaves a great impression and one that will always be a favourite.

For those who stuck around after the show, they were lucky enough to be presented with a CD comprising of six of their songs – including two new album teasers – and a chat with some very down to earth guys.
