Superorganism : SuperorganismSuperorganism is a new band, and a somewhat typical pop-indie one, but their debut, Superorganism, though a first-release cliché, is solid and more positive and jam-ridden than most.

It is happy, it is emotional, it is inspired, and also slightly political, but it is dark at times as well. Beginning with the light, ”It’s All Good”, the nice, but oversimplified, “SUPROGNSM”. Then comes their dark techno in ”Everybody Wants to Be Famous”, and who does not love hippy-happy jams anyway, such as “Nai’s March” or “The Prawn Song”, which are reminiscent of British pop band, The Go! Team.

Superorganism can drag at times, such as the weird lo-fi in “Something For Your M.I.N.D” or the just off putting and arhythmic, “Nobody Cares”. That said, there could not be a better ending note than ”Night Time”, which rollicks like Japan rock, or perhaps The Go! Team again, as it hauntingly tells the listener to “Wake Up, Wake Up, Wake Up”.

In between the rocking, like “Relax”, ”Reflections on the Screen”, or “Night Time”, are the weird, both good such as the ”Nai’s March” and bad such as “Something for Your M.I.N.D”, but all this means is that Superorganism is inspired.
