The Grahams : Kids Like UsEver since the internet made all music available, from every era, the twenty-first century has been a golden age of throwbacks. You don’t have to have lived in the seventies to be a long-haired rocker, or the eighties to be a high-haired new waver. Wife & husband duo Alyssa & Doug Graham, a.k.a. The Grahams, channel the sixties sway & road on Kids Like Us.

This is an album for those who loved the girl-groups of yore, swaying beside a piano or on a guitar with songs such as “One More Heartbreak”, “Heartbroken Town”, and touching closer “Mr. G”. But there’s also some of the sixties biker road in pieces like the titular opener, and the wry push “Bite My Tongue”. Plus “Just What You Deserve” manages to be a great big, uplifting kiss-off.

While hardly reinventing the wheel with a half-century-plus sound, The Grahams are of now in that they’re bringing it back, channeling the old for today.
