Nineties hip-hop impresario and TV personality Usher has shared a new inspirational single titled “I Cry”. The emotional track was, according to Usher, “inspired by wanting to teach my sons that it is okay for a man to feel emotions and cry.” This inspiration grew out of a depression caused by “thinking of all sons who have lost their fathers to police brutality, social injustice, and violence; the daughters and mothers too.”
The piano heavy track features a light, almost nonexistent background beat is a cry for change in personal lives and communities. All proceeds from “I Cry” will benefit the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), a nonprofit dedicated to assisting community organizations and minority-owned small businesses.
