Waxflight – Flowers

Carrying you further is Waxflight on their beautiful 'Flowers'....
Waxflight : Flowers
7.7 Cornelius Chapel
2021

Waxflight : FlowersIt’s not an easy time to be bright, or rather, it’s not a time to do bright well. Yes, there’s lots of ‘up with people’ would-be-feel-good memes going around while we’re all locked down, cheap sugar highs that don’t carry you far. Carrying you further is Waxflight on their beautiful Flowers.

The shine to Flowers brings most to mind the eighties John Hughes-esque oeuvre, whether the hopeful glow of “Kissing a Stranger” or the sunny love of the following “Chemicals”. “Ny-Lon” perhaps does it all best, both catchy and angular. Throughout the record, there is a nice, warm feel that might not be of the moment, but sustains.

Maybe someday we’ll be able to go outside again without fear, cluster together at a show. Until then, enjoy the rays of Waxflight on Flowers.
