Whaddup Yalls? That’s a dumb joke, but I don’t give a crap.

The California-based electronic outfit Yalls has a debut full-length S/T album coming out on MJ MJ Records (which only puts out tapes, not records, as far as I can tell). Preview a couple tracks below: "Spaceship" and "Your Street". If you’ve been following Yalls, you’ll recognize these tracks from earlier EPs (the album art at right is from the EP Rerepeater). Some older material is getting sandwiched with some newer material for the new album — plus, there’s a whole remix album that accompanies every purchase. That’s a boatload of music. So not surprisingly there’s a ton of different moods, styles, and textures to be found herein.

I went with "Spaceship" and "Your Street" to show the kind of range Yalls is putting out there. The latter is a straight-up piano composition: frenetic, wholesome, reminiscent of Aphex Twin’s "avril 14th". The former is a fuller, headier mix, but you’ll still recognize some classical intruments. Is that a cello? A flute? Live or sampled? Hard to say; in any event the pieces come together just right.

Catch up with Yalls at the Soundcloud (which has links to all the other interwebz jointz) and go knock on MJ MJ’s door to find out how to get your hands on the limited run cassette
