Note: Studio re-opened on October 17th, 2008, after being closed on July 31st, 2008, by the Department of Buildings after failing an inspection.

Studio B is located on 259 Banker Street, 259 Banker Street, Brooklyn, between Calyer Street and Meserole Avenue.  It is in the Greenpoint area, to the north of Williamsburg venues such as Music Hall in Williamsburg, Sound Fix Records and McCarren Park Pool.  It lies only a few blocks from the East River.

The entrance to Studio B is a large foyer that leads past the box office and coat check to one of two bar areas, with that bar to the right.  The stage is located on the right, pas the bar, with a recessed stage floor.  Around the side and back of the stage floor is a raised area, with a second bar past that, at the back end of the stage floor.  On the side of the stage floor opposite the entrance is a super-raised area with couches (while the rest of the floor is bare).  A rooftop terrace garden was recently opened, the stairs to which lie at the end of a corridor between the stage and initial bar.

Really more of a dance club than a music venue, Studio B has more in common with giant loft/warehouse dance clubs that are often located near the water (whether in Brooklyn or Manhattan, like Highline Ballroom), thanks to the available space and lack of residential neighbors.  While that does result in a large space, it is a far trek to reach.  Likewise, the drink prices are high (though sometimes the actual ticket prices aren’t), but the sound and light systems are top-notch.  While indie music acts do sometimes play there, it more tends to be anything dance: DJ’s, electronica, techno, indie-dance, pop-dance, 80’s dance party, etc.  Still, an interesting place to have a good time.
