Here’s some slick rick rock n roll out of Los Angeles, the City of Angels. Kinda want to blast Mack Winston & the Reflections with the ragtop down and a noseful of blow while cruising along the Pacific Highway. You know, that hill-y, vale-y stretch of road along the ocean which Hollywood always tried to pass off as the white cliffs of Dover in all the Bond movies?

I like MW & the Reflections best when they play it straight. There’s a saccharine scent of 80s Top 40 radio with this act. I mean that in a good way. Like when the New Wavers were making their first tentative inroads into the mainstream, capturing the public imagination with honest pop rock dittification. After the underground breaks into the mainstream, the go-for-the-gut pop sensibility can either blossom (Madonna) or curdle like sour milk (Huey Lewis & the News?) — but until then, it’s all good in the hood.

Hit up the Bandcamp for the free EP. Pretty cool album cover and some questionable remixes — but that single "One You Want" is pure, can’t miss, break up with your teen sweetheart goodness. Find out more at their site & Twitter & Facebook & keep it real!
