These are dark times, people, and we desperately need some light. Yet not simple shiny things, but rather earned light, earned hope & love. We need the light of Stars, like on their latest, From Capelton Hill.
Capelton is a distinctly Stars record, maybe not as super-so as their prior There Is No Lover In Fluorescent Light (QRO review), instead with a wistful looking back twinge, but not in sorrow. “Capelton Hill” exemplifies it best, closing up the summer home and looking back on life together, but there’s also the lives lived in “If I Never See London Again”. And there’s also the shining & beautiful Stars of “Pretenders”, plus more classic Stars duets in “Back To the End” and “To Feel What They Feel”.
They say it’s always darkest before the dawn, but these days we’re just looking for any light. Like the light of Stars.
